The short answer: the easiest dog-friendly winery in the Yarra Valley is Yering Farm Wines. It opens seven days, has a big lawn and welcomes dogs on a lead. Helen's Hill Estate in Coldstream puts out water bowls and dog bags. Coombe and Yarrawood both welcome leashed dogs outdoors with lunch on offer. Dogs almost always stay outside, so book an outdoor table and mention your dog.

The Yarra Valley is one of the closest wine regions to Melbourne, and plenty of its cellar doors are happy to have a calm dog along for the day. Every winery below was checked in October 2026 against its own website or a current pet-friendly listing. We noted exactly where dogs can go, because some venues offer a whole lawn and others a single bookable dog area.

Yering Farm says it's "pet-friendly" and asks visitors to keep dogs on a lead and clean up after them. It has a large lawn and opens every day, so it's the simplest dog-friendly winery in the Valley to plan around.

  • Address: 19–21 St Huberts Road, Yering

  • Hours: daily 10am–5pm

  • Phone: 03 9739 0461

2. Helen's Hill Estate, Coldstream

Helen's Hill describes itself as a "dog friendly venue" and lists water bowls, dog bags, and pats and cuddles. Dogs must be on a lead. There's a bistro with outdoor dining (outdoor dining weekends only), so you can turn a tasting into lunch.

  • Address: 16 Ingram Road, Coldstream

  • Cellar door hours: Monday, Thursday and Friday 11am–4pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am–5pm. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • Note: a 10% surcharge applies on weekends and 20% on public holidays.

3. Coombe Yarra Valley, Coldstream

Coombe's cellar door page says "Dogs are welcome outside and on a leash". The estate is known for its gardens, including a hedge that's more than 100 years old. The Garden Terrace serves food at lunchtime.

  • Address: 673–675 Maroondah Highway, Coldstream

  • Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–5pm. Garden Terrace food 11:30am–2:30pm.

  • Tasting: $15, waived when you buy a bottle

4. Yarrawood Estate, Yarra Glen

Yarrawood's booking page says "Pets are welcome on our lawn area on lead and under control". It opens daily and serves lunch in two sittings, which makes it a handy option on the Melba Highway wine trail.

  • Address: 1275 Melba Highway, Yarra Glen

  • Hours: daily 10am–5pm. Lunch sittings 11am–1:45pm and 2:15pm–5pm. A 15% public holiday surcharge applies to dine-in food, drinks and tastings.

Rob Dolan Wines has moved its cellar door to Killara in Seville East, so update any old map pins. The cellar door page says "Four-legged friends are very welcome". The FAQ asks owners to keep dogs under control and clean up after them.

  • Address: corner of Warburton Highway and Sunnyside Road, Seville East

  • Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–5pm

  • Tasting: $15 seated tasting, waived if you spend $60

6. Kellybrook Winery, Wonga Park

Kellybrook does things differently. Dogs aren't allowed inside, on the deck or in the main garden. Instead there's a small dedicated dog area with two barrel tables, for up to four people and one or two dogs in total. You need to book ahead, it depends on the weather, and dogs must be on a lead. It suits anyone who'd rather have a quiet, set-aside spot than a busy lawn.

  • Address: Fulford Road, Wonga Park

  • Phone: (03) 9722 1304

  • Hours: Friday to Sunday, 11am–5pm. Closed on Melbourne Cup Day (Tuesday 3 November 2026).

7. Maddens Rise, Coldstream

PawScapes (checked June 2026) says calm dogs are allowed inside the tasting room. Maddens Rise's own website still shows an old closure notice, so call ahead to confirm it's open and that dogs can come in. The same site lists weekend-only hours.

  • Address: corner of Maroondah Highway and Maddens Lane, Coldstream

  • Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 10:30am–4:30pm (last tastings 3:45pm)

8. Steels Gate Wines, Dixons Creek

Steels Gate's cellar door and restaurant open Mon, Thu, Fri and Sun 11am–4pm and Sat 11am–5pm (closed Tue–Wed). The owners describe a dog-friendly deck, so call 0434 420 447 to confirm a dog-friendly table before you go.

  • Address: 1974 Melba Highway, Dixons Creek

More pet-friendly options

The Yarra Valley Wineries pet-friendly list names more venues, including Boat O'Craigo, De Bortoli, Hanrahan, Mandala, Payten & Jones and Squitchy Lane. We couldn't confirm their dog policies on their own websites, so we haven't listed them above. Call ahead if one of them is on your route.

Tips for a Yarra Valley winery day with your dog

Book outdoor tables and mention your dog. Sunny weekends book out fast, and venues such as Kellybrook have only a couple of dog-friendly tables.

Bring the basics. That means a lead, a water bowl, poo bags and a mat. Most venues say on lead and under control, and they mean it. Pet Circle: shop dog travel water bowls and leads (affiliate link).

Pack a chew for the tasting. A natural chew keeps most dogs content under the table for a flight or two. Petzyo: natural dog treats and chews (affiliate link).

Plan for the weather. The Valley can be properly hot in summer and cold and wet in winter. On hot days, go in the morning and never leave a dog in the car.

Stay the night. If you're making a weekend of it, check pet policies directly with the property before you book.

Fill the gaps with coffee. Our guide to the best dog-friendly cafés in the Yarra Valley covers breakfast and coffee stops. If you're planning a bigger wine trip, see our dog-friendly Barossa Valley wineries guide.

When you duck inside to buy a bottle, a dedicated tie-up point such as a Pet Parking wall tether gives you a fixed place to clip the lead.

Frequently asked questions

Which Yarra Valley wineries allow dogs?

As of October 2026, six wineries in this guide say on their own websites that dogs are welcome: Yering Farm, Helen's Hill, Coombe, Yarrawood, Rob Dolan at Killara and Kellybrook. Two more, Maddens Rise and Steels Gate, are reported to be dog-friendly, so call ahead to confirm. Most only allow dogs outdoors and on a lead.

Are dogs allowed inside any Yarra Valley cellar doors?

Maddens Rise in Coldstream allows calm dogs in its tasting room, according to PawScapes; call to confirm. Almost everywhere else, dogs stay outside.

Which dog-friendly Yarra Valley winery is open every day?

Yering Farm Wines and Yarrawood Estate both open daily, 10am to 5pm.

Do I need to book with a dog?

At Kellybrook, yes: its dog area must be booked ahead. Elsewhere it's not always required, but booking an outdoor table and mentioning your dog is the safest bet on weekends.

Can I bring my dog to a Yarra Valley winery restaurant?

Yes, at some. Coombe's Garden Terrace, Yarrawood's lunch service and Helen's Hill's bistro (outdoor dining weekends only) all have outdoor dining at venues that welcome leashed dogs. Ask for an outdoor table when you book.

Where is Rob Dolan Wines' cellar door now?

Rob Dolan's cellar door is now at Killara, on the corner of Warburton Highway and Sunnyside Road in Seville East.
